When the guests are at your doorstep and most importantly if they are uninvited and you cannot afford to displease them. Half Hour Chili is the answer at this juncture. This dish is not actually about what it sounds. No doubt it is chili but it has a milder flavor which makes it a crowd pleaser. However, if you like spicier then you may serve the dish with hot sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 table spoon canola oil
- 3 chopped onions
- 1 chopped carrot
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped jalapeno pepper
- 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
- 1-2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 chopped tomato along with its juice
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 15 ounce can of rinsed kidney beans
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup bulgur
For Garnish
- ½ cup plain non fat yogurt
- 1/3 cup chopped scallions
- ¼ chopped fresh cilantro
Procedure
- Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat and then add carrot, onions, jalapeno, garlic, chili powder, cumin to add taste. Cook the dish, while stirring frequently for 5-7 minutes until the carrot and onion turns soft.
- Add tomatoes with juices, salt and sugar; cook the same for 5 minutes over high heat. Stir the beans and bulgur after reducing the heat. Cook the dish for 15 minutes on low heat until the chili is thickened.
- Garnish with yogurt, cilantro and scallions.
